Behind ELEVATE: Elizabeth M. Tettleton

Elizabeth Tettleton opened her services to the public by launching ELEVATE in order to meet the growing needs for event management in Oxford, MS and surrounding areas. Before graduating with a B.S. in Hospitality Management (2014), Elizabeth coordinated wedding showers, volunteered with the Southern Foodways Alliance, Oxford Film Festival, and interned with Aramark. By interning at the Corporate Office for City Grocery Restaurant Group (where she primarily worked at Snackbar and The Main Event Catering) with special events and catering, she fully found her passion in event management. After graduating and completing her degree, John Currence hired her full time to manage the corporate office and various restaurant functions, marketing and PR, the Johnny Snack brand, contracts for product and events services with Oxford Conference Center, Graduate Hotel and Centerplate, and to help co-launch John Currence’s Foundation, MoveOnUpMS, while also serving as the Director of Special Events and Catering.

Elizabeth felt called to work in events, but wanted to expand her reach to corporate entities and higher education and took a position at Ole Miss Alumni Association in August of 2016. At Ole Miss, Elizabeth plans events for various schools, departments, and programs that hold an array of reunions, hall of fame inductions, continuing education conferences, board meetings, and development fundraisers. Elizabeth joined the National Geographic Society family in October of 2018 as the MS Regional GeoChallenge Coordinator to coordinate the first annual GeoChallenge competition. In 2019 she was hired as an event and competitions consultant, as well as promoted to the be the overall Competitions Coordinator for the Mississippi student events location that host the MS GeoBee and one of sixteen Regional GeoChallenge sites.

While holding down these various positions, Elizabeth has been privileged to work with various vendors, James Beard Wining Chefs and celebrity chefs, various film celebrities, food editors and writers, PR, graphics, advertising, and marketing firms, various newspapers and magazines, deans and chairmen of departments, The University of Mississippi Chancellor, The Southern Foodways Alliance, The Ole Miss Women’s Council, The Ole Miss Chancellor’s office, Mississippi Geographic Association, Oxford Film Festival, MoveOnUpMS, Ole Miss Athletics, Ole Miss Foundation and Development, Outstanding in the Field, CNN Headline News, ESPN Game Day, SEC Network, and others.

Elizabeth passionately pursues writing and marketing, and is a food columnist for The Local Voice, is President of the The Oxford Comma (the Oxford, MS chapter of the Mississippi Writer’s Guild), is an advisor for the Quasar Literary Community, and coordinates events on a volunteer basis for the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
